The MILA join-in supermarket will have a total floor space of 846 m², spread over two levels. The sales area is 345 m², of which 235 m² is on the ground floor and 110 m² on the upper floor. In addition, we offer storage space, a kitchen, offices and an event room as well as the use of a courtyard, which creates space for community activities.
Public transport connections:
The U6 underground station Niederhofstraße is in the immediate vicinity. The U4 stations Meidling Hauptstraße (5-10 minutes on foot) and Längenfeldgasse (10 minutes on foot) are also easily accessible. Vienna Meidling railway station is only a 5-10 minute walk away. Frequently asked question: Where will MILA be?
This question occupied the Location Working Group (WG) for many months. A total of almost 60 potential locations were examined in order to find the best environment for MILA in Vienna. The key questions were: In which area of Vienna should MILA be located and what social qualities should the neighbourhood offer? In addition, the “hard facts” were divided into must and ideal criteria, including the size of the retail space, accessibility, lorry loading zone, bicycle parking, good rental conditions and space for communal areas.
Decisions of the Annual General Meeting
On 3 June 2024, the decision was made at the general meeting of the MILA cooperative: The new, large supermarket location was approved by an overwhelming majority! We are delighted to have reached this important milestone. The lease negotiations have been successfully concluded and the official approvals are in full swing. The conversion of the supermarket space can even take place rent-free – a great opportunity to realise our project in the best possible way.
Our small test operation, the mini-market in Ottakring, closed in August 2024 and was relocated to the new site. It will continue to operate there until the planned opening of the large supermarket in spring 2025, so that our members can continue to shop conveniently during the renovation work. The best entrance to Minimarkt and the offices is via Krichbaumgasse 25, 1120 in the inner courtyard.
We are looking forward to putting down roots at the new location and opening our large supermarket in spring 2025! The supermarket space can be converted rent-free until the end of February 2025.
